‘2013 SBS Gayo Daejun’ Amazing Line-Up, Awesome Collaborations

"Music can create miracles" was the concept for the past year's hottest artists. The event was hosted by singers Sung Shi Kyung, 2NE1's Dara, and Super Junior's Heechul. The event featured a brilliant line-up of singers who captured the eyes, ears, and hearts of the audience. Singers not only performed their own hits of 2013, but also collaborated with other singers to perform them on stage. The last performance included all the singers coming together to offer up a heartwarming performance of "You Are a Miracle."

Even before the show went live, the event was a hot topic because of its extraordinary line-up. The first performance featured 25 idol group members singing a winter song. Next were some rookies that really shined in 2013, including BTS, Ladies' Code, VIXX, Crayon Pop, Hello Venus, and others. Crayon Pop's five-cylinder dance even had the audience jumping.

Jo Yong Pil also made an appearance through a video message to encourage the artists. Ailee showed off her powerful vocals. This year's show highlighted not only individual singers and groups, but also their collaborative performances. Yoon Jong Shin sang his song "Instinctively," which made the viewers forget just for a moment that he's usually so silly in front of the camera. Lim Kim danced to Park Ji Yoon's "Coming of Age," and showed a brand new side to her. Park Ji Yoon then joined San E on stage to sing "Mystery" together.

SBS' "K-Pop Star" season 1 participants Baek Ah Yeon and Park Ji Min sang each other's songs. Girl's Day and A Pink performed each other's songs. Although they might seem similar, they do have different charms. Girl's Day sang A Pink's "Nonono," and A Pink sang Girl's Day's "Expect," showing off the suspender dance.

ZE:A members came together to perform as a group. ZE:A and Nine Muses sang Jo Yong Pil's "Bounce" in a club-style song, putting a new twist to the song. Girls' Generation and EXO members sang Beyonce's "Crazy in Love" in a jazz swing style. EXO members played the drums and piano, to act as the band. They even danced together.

Lim Chang Jung and Huh Gak put forth their best singing voices for the comical "Open the Door."

Secret, Teen Top, Rainbow, and Park Jin Young finished up part 1 of the show. Teen Top's Niel sang "Love Fool," A Pink's Eunji sang "She Was Pretty," Infinite's Hoya sang "I Have a Girl," and Secret's Hyosung sang "Honey," all the while dancing with a hologram of the original performer of the songs, Park Jin Young. Park Jin Young then came forth from the hologram and joined them in singing "You're the One" and 2PM's "Hand's Up."

Part 2 was opened by EXO with a remix of their hit song "Growl." Just like the million sellers they are, EXO put on an extraordinary performance, in which every single dance move was met with squeals of joy from the viewers. SISTAR then took the stage with their sexy dance and matching sexy attire. They were followed by other shining stars of 2013, including miss A, 4MINUTE, IU, Brown Eyed Girls, K.Will, f(x), Lee Hi, Block B, B.A.P, B1A4, T-ARA, Infinite, 2NE1, Beast, CNBLUE, and KARA.

We can't forget about the hip hop collaborations as well. Dynamic Duo and Baechigi joined forces to showcase exciting rap. They were followed by Bumkey, San E, and Verbal Jint who showed their hip hop harmony. Yoon Mi Rae, Drunken Tiger, and Bizzy sang "The Cure" together. Eun Ji Won, Block B's Zico, BTS' Rap Monster, B1A4's Baro, and B.A.P's Yongguk joined in on the idols' hip hop performances as well.

Lee Seung Chul joined SHINee's Onew, BEAST's Hyunseung, INFINITE's Woohyun, and B1A4's Sandeul to sing "My Love." Another highlight was Lee Hyori and CL's collaborative performance of "Bad Girls" and "The Baddest Female." CL's powerful rap and Lee Hyori's craziness put forth an intense performance. For their last song the two appeared on stage wearing fur and showed off a powerful dance.

2PM brought back the oldie "Heartbeat" and also performed "A.D.T.O.Y." SHINee performed "Everybody" and "Dream Girl" on stage and challenged the other male groups. Big Bang's Taeyang and G-Dragon, while they didn't perform as a complete group, showed off their collaboration. They had moments were they sat together on stage and sang, and then other moments where they danced and moved about the stage. They really know how to work together and enjoy themselves on stage. They concluded their performance with a heartwarming hug.

Girls' Generation sang "Express 999" and "I Got a Boy." Yoona wasn't able to make the show because of a drama shoot, but the performance was excellent, nonetheless. The last performance of the night was given by all the participants singing "You Are a Miracle." They plan to donate all proceeds from the song. SHINee's Taemin, 2PM's Wooyoung, A Pink's Naeun, Girl's Day's Minah displayed a parody of the dramas "The Heirs" and "The Master's Sun." The 4-plus-hour show came to an end with "You Are a Miracle."

'2013 SBS Gayo Daejun' featured brilliant performances and collaborative stages among the hottest stars of the year. It was an especially nice gift for those viewers who weren't able to attend a holiday concert this year. It's hard to see such collaborations elsewhere, and was one entertaining night for viewers. We can't wait for next year's show! Whose performance was your favorite?
