Rajon Rondo Headed To D-League? Coach Said There Is A Possiblity

Boston Celtics premier point guard Rajon Rondo might come back playing in hardwood again, but not with his mother team in Massachusetts.

Celtics coach Brad Stevens said that the 27-year old former all-star is doing good in his rehabilitation but seeing him in a white and green uniform might not happen anytime soon because the player 'might' head first to Boston's NBA D-League affiliate Maine Red Claws.

Rondo is yet to play a game since January 25, 2013 after tearing his right ACL in a double-overtime loss against Atlanta.

As the Boston Globe reported, Stevens said the he is looking at the possibility of putting his injured star in D-League for further rehabilitation and conditioning once he and his coaching staff come to a final decision.

"That is something that has been discussed, probably some positives and negatives to that, but at the end of the day, it is an option as part of his rehabilitation," the coach said after the Celtics practice at the Sports Authority Training Center.

"And playing? I have not been given any indication he would be playing that soon. It's going to be on him. Physically, I think he's looking better and better. But that's to be expected, you're going to gain more confidence, but I don't know when that translates to ready to play."

Meanwhile, reports have it that the Boston Celtics is looking to lure away Jeff Teague from the Atlanta Hawks in hopes of bolstering their guard lineup. On the same report by Boston Globe, Stevens said expressed his admiration for the former Wake Forest University standout whom he have watched playing "since he was a kid." Stevens also tried to recruit Teague to Butler before signing with Wake Forest.

"He's just a shifty guard who's made huge shots. When he's making shots like that, it's hard to guard a guy who is that shifty and that fast. He's always been an elite athlete with his ability to change speeds."
