Forbes’ 2014 '30 Under 30' List For Entertainment Mixes Hollywood A-Listers With YouTube Stars! Online Media Gaining Much Popularity

The power of online media has never been more pronounced in Forbes' 2014 "30 Under 30" List for Entertainment category when it mixed YouTube stars with the Hollywood A-Listers as the most influential people under 30 years old.

Canadian singer Justin Bieber can thank his present fame from the popularity of his YouTube videos and it's the same path that Todrick Hall is trying to tread. When he was kicked out of American Idol 2010, he found a new career on YouTube particularly with his "Spell Block Tango" works, said Forbes. He was also tapped to direct Beyonce's "Blow" video.

Then there's 28-year-old Issa Rae who also found fame on YouTube through her series "The Misadventures of Awkward Black Girl." HBO picked her up and she's also working on her book.

Twenty-nine-year-old Mickey Meyer operates the comedy network, Jash, which already attracted A-list comedians like Michael Cera, Sarah Silverman and Reggie Watts to star in several skits.

Bing Chen, 27, is the global head of creator development & management of YouTube. That might sound like a mouthful but suffice to say that without him, there would be no Bieber, Issa Rae or Todrick Hall.

These are just some of the social media champions that found themselves with A-Listers like Olivia Wilde, who co-founded Conscious Commerce, the "company pairs brands with causes to help corporations become better global citizens."

Also making it to the 2014 "30 Under 30" list are: Kristin Stewart, Anna Kendrick, Grace Helbig, Smosh founders Ian Hecox and Anthony Padilla, Michael B. Jordan, Jennifer Lawrence, Kelly Osborne, Aubrey Plaza, animator Jason Ruiz, Taylor Schilling, Nev Schulman, Quvenzhané Wallis and Rebel Wilson.

In compiling the 2014 "30 Under 30", Forbes has gathered the upstarts and established names in their respective categories. There are about 15 categories of 30 names each. The categories are:

"Art & Style, Education, Energy & Industry (new this year), Finance, Food & Drink, Hollywood & Entertainment, Law & Policy, Marketing & Advertising, Media, Music, Science & Health Care, Social Entrepreneurs, Sports and Tech."
