After six months of dating, Jake Gyllenhal and his Sports Illustrated model girlfriend Alyssa Miller have decided to call it quits, according to US Weekly.






Some insiders told the publication that things went for the worst when Gyllenhaal had to start traveling for work again.






"They fizzled out. It happened a while ago -- before the holidays," said one source. "He's back on the scene."






Things were really good between Jake and Alyssa right up until he had to leave for L.A. to go shoot a movie ["Nightcrawler"] in the fall," adds another source. "Then the distance just really got to them






Another insider suggested that their hectic schedules triggered the couples downfall.






They said Gyllenhaal "was very taken with [Miller], but I think their work definitely drew them apart."






Allegedly the relationship turned ice cold before the holiday season.






"They were apart for the holidays, and things weren't good with them even before that," a source said. "She's very much a long-term relationship girl. He's not as much of that mindset."






When discussing her relationship with Gyllenhaal in late October, Miller left it at, "Things are good."






The 24-year-old and the star of the nominated "Brokeback Mountain," started dating last June when they were working on their fitness in a mutual gym.






Gyllenhaal is infamous for dating a lot of hot celebrities. In 2010 he was with Taylor Swift for a quick spell. Prior to that, he dating Kirsten Dunst from 2002 to 2004. Resse Witherspoon remains is longest relationship in Tinsel Town. His romance with the "Legal Blonde" actress ended in 2009.
