YG Entertainment's Newest Boy Band WINNER To Release Debut Album In Late February After 'WINNER TV' Wraps

Fans of WINNER, YG Entertainment's newest boy band, comprised of the five members of the victorious Team A from the 2013 Mnet reality show "WIN: Who Is Next?," won't have to wait much longer for the group's first album.

In an interview on Tuesday with Star News, YG founder and chief executive officer Yang Hyun Suk announced that the band's first release, an EP, is slated for release in late February, following the conclusion of their current reality show "WINNER TV."

"Following 'WINNER TV,' a show that has openly depicted the WINNER band members' daily lives and work since December of last year, WINNER will release their debut album--as soon as the show ends," Yang said.

"As of now, we have a plan to release the album by the end of February this year."

"WINNER's first album will be a mini-album [EP]," he added. "After making their official debut with the first mini album, WINNER will continue to actively perform on different stages."

Which is exactly where the focus of his record label has always been, he told the publication OSEN.

"Since the beginning of YG Entertainment, the number one priority has been the stage," Yang said.

"Singers have to give the audience the greatest and the most fabulous performance. This is one of the reasons why [YG Entertainment superstar group] Big Bang's recent world tour was a success."

Despite the fact they are currently on tour in Japan opening for Big Bang, WINNER band members Kang Seungyoon, Lee Seunghoon, Song Minho, Nam Taehyun and Kim Jinwoo have been hard at work in the recording studio, the CEO claims.

"WINNER is working hard on their debut album with YG producers," he said. "There is a high chance that songs written by WINNER members will be included on the album."

Big Bang's six-dome tour of Japan wraps up at Osaka's Kyocera Dome on Monday.
