This year's idol stars ran for "Idol Star Athletics."

Every year MBC recruits idol stars for their "Idol Star Athletic Championships." This year's sports include track and field, archery, futsal, and curling. The idol stars got together and sweat it out early in the morning to prove their worth as athlete idols, and their competition was hot, hot, hot!

The championships opened on the 13th at the Jamsil Indoor Gymnasium in Seoul, and featured SHINee, INFINITE, EXO, BEAST, Teen Top, Block B, B1A4, 2AM, ZE:A, and more, with a total of about 200 idol stars. The day's announced events were futsal and archery. The track and field and curling events were held privately.

This year's archery event was changed from the traditional way of team competition to individual competition. Archery matches progress with a lot of psychological pressure, and even more so this year now that it's been changed to individual contestants. As expected, the stars' fierce competition commenced, each one of them wanting to earn the title of 'archery idol.' The fans hung by the edge of their seats watching the idol stars compete for each point.

But above all, the game of futsal was of the greatest interest for the day's events. On last year's Chuseok Special, the game proved to be a thrilling point of entertainment for viewers. This year was no different. The futsal game was split into 2 10-minute games. The idol stars ran back and forth with no time to rest, and competed to get the ball in the goal. It was so competitive that it was hard to look away from the game, even for a moment.

The fierce body competition of the game is futsal's charm. While the idol stars did keep their manners, they didn't back away from showing a little body competition. BEAST's Doojoon stood out on the Chuseok Special with his 2 goals, but was injured at this year's game. He had previously injured his hamstring playing soccer. He said, "My body's not in perfect condition," and showed a fighting spirit as he went onto the field. Besides Doojoon many other idol stars fell and suffered small injuries here and there. However, that didn't stop them from focusing on the game.

Nevertheless, the idol stars didn't let the risk of injury stop them from giving it all they had. They all played it to win, and gave it their best, presenting an entertainment game for the viewers. The winners embraced and hugged each other with joy and gave a 90 degree bow to the fans after their victory.

Fans cheered and shouted with every movement of their favorite idol stars. The idol stars weren't the only ones that were feeling competitive. Even the idol fans had an unofficial cheer battle throughout the competition. They brought balloons, glow in the dark sticks, and other cheerleading equipment to show their support for their favorite idol stars.

The 'Idol Star Athletics Championship' was hosted by Jun Hyun Moo, Super Junior's Shindong, Kim Sung Joo, and Lee Byung Jin. The event will be broadcast at the end of this month.
