Actress Shin Se Kyung Appointed As UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador

On January 14, actress Shin Se Kyung's entertainment agency shared, "To commemorate the 60th anniversary of the United Nations Educational Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) Korea Commission, actress Shin Se Kyung will be appointed as a UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador. The induction ceremony will take place on January 15."

In the past, the UNESCO Korea Commission appointed prominent figures in culture like jazz vocalist Na Yoon Sun and media artist Lee Lee Nam as UNESCO Goodwill Ambassadors, but it is unusual for an actor to be appointed as one.

The actress has shown a personal interest in culture and education and has been active as an advocate for the Korean language since her participation in the drama "Tree With Deep Roots" in 2011. The commission had recognized her dedication and decided to appoint her this honorable position. As a UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador, Shin Se Kyung will promote the vision and the mission of the UNESCO Bridge program domestically and internationally.

She said, "I deeply agree with UNESCO's values in planting peace in people's hearts. I have much to bear on my shoulders as a UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador, but I will do my best. I am a firm advocate of promoting literacy since I love to read. It is my joy to share this with others."

The actress was casted as the female lead character Huh Mina and has been filming "Tazza 2 - God's Hand" since January 5.
