JYP Entertainment Boy Groups – From GOD to GOT7

Singer and producer Park Jin Young of JYP Entertainment debuted the new boy group GOT7. The group will be competing against last year's popular boy group EXO and YG Entertainment's new boy group WINNER.

GOT7 just debuted, and is another one of Park Jin Young's boy groups. Park Jin Young has debuted a wide variety of boy groups so far, including GOD, Ryang Hyun Ryang Ha, Noel, One Two, 2AM, 2PM, and JJ Project.

The SBS "K-Pop Star 3" judge first debuted the group GOD. The 5-member group debuted in 1998 with "Dear Mother," and their members were Kim Tae Woo, Danny An, Park Joon Hyung, Son Ho Young, and Yoon Kye Sang. At the time, they had a concept of 'comfortable' going on for them. GOD rose to popularity soon thereafter.

In 2000 GOD came out with their 3rd album, which had the song "Lies." The album sold 1.84 million copies, and their 4th album sold 1.71 million copies. In 2005 they concluded their group activities after their 7th album Into the Sky. Each of the members pursued solo singing, acting, and emcee'ing activities. The year of 2014 is a 15 year anniversary for the group.

Twin Duo Ryang Hyun Ryang Ha debuted in 2000 at 13 years old. They were successful with their cute looks and outstanding dance skills on "I Didn't Go To School" and "What Is Dance." They parted with Park Jin Young and released a 2nd album in 2004, but their popularity just wasn't the same. They served in the Korean military and were simultaneously discharged.

Four member vocal boy group Noel started with Park Jin Young as well. They debuted in 2002 and started with "Despite Holding On." In 2006 they released their 3rd album It Was All You and paused their activities for their military service. They returned in 2011 with a new agency.

Dance duo One Two composed of member Oh Chang Hoon and Song Ho Bum popped up. This '2nd generation Clon' showed up in 2003 with Now, Hips. This first album was written, composed, and arranged by none other than Park Jin Young.

Park Jin Young then debuted 4-member vocal group 2AM and 7-member dance group 2PM in 2008. 2AM consisted of members Jo Kwon, Im Seulong, Jung Jinwoon, and Lee Changmin. They started off with the unique lyrical ballad song "This Song." Since then the members have each pursued entertainment, drama, and movie activities.

2PM had a great start with "10 Out of 10." In 2009 they showcased a powerful acrobatic performance with their song "Heartbeat" and proved themselves as a performance group. Leader Jay Park left the group, leaving the group as a 6-member group. 2PM members also are currently active in entertainment, drama, movie, and musicals as well.

GOT7 is Park Jin Young's latest group, and is the first team to debut in 6 years after 2PM. The members are of different nationalities. Members JB and Jr. had previously shown some activity with JJ Project in 2012. GOT7 uses martial arts tricking moves in their performance. This includes kicking, flipping, and other martial arts b-boying. They debuted on the 15th, and are planning to change up the idol group's history with their contributions. They will be going into full-fledged activities starting on the 16th with their music program debut performance. Their debut album is scheduled for release on the 20th.
