Souja Boy Arrested for Gun Possession; `Crank That' Rapper Pulled Over With Loaded Weapon

Soulja Boy was arrested for gun possession after Los Angeles police pulled over the car he was in on Wednesday morning and found his gun.

TMZ is reporting that Grammy-nominated rapper Soulja Boy was arrested yesterday morning in San Fernando Valley, Calif., for drug and gun possession. Police say they found Soulja Boy with a loaded gun.

A Los Angeles Police Department spokesman told MTV News that the Soulja Boy was a passenger in a car that was pulled over after it ran a stop sign in San Fernando Valley. The police pulled the car over at 4 a.m. on Wednesday. When officers looked inside the vehicle, they spotted what looked to be a gun. Law enforcement officials confirmed that Soulja Boy was arrested for possession of a concealed weapon. TMZ reported that the gun was loaded, but the police did not not confirm whether it was.

Soulja Boy's real name is DeAndre Cortez Way. This isn't his first run in with the law. In 2009 Soulja Boy was filming a video in an abandoned building in Atlanta. he ran from police upon being ordered to stop. Soulja Boy was arrested and charged with obstruction.

Soulja Boy was arrested in Georgia in 2011 and charged with gun and drug possession. Soulja Boy was riding on a highway in an SUV in Carroll County, Ga., with four other men. Police stopped the SUV for an equipment violation. When the police searched the vehicle they found more than five ounces of marijuana. They also found handguns and a large sum of cash.  Soulja was charged with two felony marijuana charges and gun possession.

Soulja Boy rose to fame in 2007 when his first single "Crank That (Soulja Boy)" hit #1 on the Billboard Hot 100.  Drake used the clip on a remix to "We Made It" in December.

Soulja Boy is out on $35,000 bail.
