Op-Ed: Is Ga-In's "FxxK U" You" Too Much?

Brown Eyed Girls's Ga In has released the music video to her solo single, "Fxxk U," and it's all kinds of interesting. The male vocals are sung by Bumkey and the male lead in the music video is played by actor Joo Ji Hoon. The synopsis of the video revolves around a torrid relationship and the "I hate you/I love you" aspect that we all can relate to and go through. What makes this story a stand-out is the artistic way they went about creating the relationship between the two. Here's what worked and what didn't work for me:

Things that worked for me:

  • Ga-In is a sex pot and she does the whole sexy thing quite well.
  • Her make-up was flawless.
  • The song, despite the unnecessary overuse of "fxxk u", is catchy.
  • There's a sort of girl power message in the song that gets me riled up as a woman.
  • Ga-In knows how to differentiate herself from the rest.
  • Her alter ego is fearless.
  •  Joo Ji Hoon looks good.

Things that didn't work for me:

  • Did anyone else feel like Ga-In is over-doing the "badass" thing too much?
  • Ga-In's outfits had no thought put into them.
  • Domestic violence is never cool.
  • Her overuse of "fxxk u". Every single time she sang it, a part of me cringed.
  • The superfluous amounts of unnecessary sexual scenes and moments.
  • The overdone sexy scenes, i.e. the shower scene
