Review: AOA Sizzle In The Britney Spears-Influenced 'Miniskirt' [VIDEO]

A good Britney Spears song has a way of enticing you that almost feels like it's against your will.

Like the unending parade of men Ms. Spears has seduced in her storied music video career, the listener is drawn in, by the drumbeat or some particularly juicy keyboard riff, and the next thing they know they're hooked, scouring Spotify for the song in the wee hours of the morning, hoping that they don't get busted when their song history shows up in their Facebook feed.

Or maybe that's just me.

With a strong likeness to Britney's musical sound and irresistible charm, AOA's "Miniskirt" is an enticing three-minutes of K-pop, tailor-made for the dance floor.

AOA, whose name is an acronym for Ace of Angels, released their first album "Angels' Story" less than two years ago, yet they have the vocal ease and confidence on the mic of veteran performers.

There may be much about the attitude and vocal inflections of "Miniskirt" that reference Britney's baddest musical moments, but AOA and their production team are staking out some new sonic ground here too.

A satisfyingly percussive and beautifully processed Fender Rhodes track anchors "Miniskirt," as layers of tinny keyboard piano licks wash over the mix.

One of the production's greatest strengths is the apparent ease with which the eight members of AOA pass the mic from one to another.

Considering the diversity of the band members' singing styles, all of which are at the very least intriguing if not downright striking, it is an impressive feat.

Instead of sounding jumpy or forced, or making the listener feel carsick, the strong collection of individual voices drives the song to invigorating heights.

And although this reviewer may be a little late to the party in this case ("Miniskirt" was released nearly two weeks ago), it truly is a wonderful party.
