EXO Receives Three Nominations for the 'Korean Music Awards'

After their recent sweep of most of the major awards in which they have been nominated, SM Entertainment's EXO has received nominations in three categories for the upcoming Korean Music Awards. On February 4th, the nominations were announced during a press conference held by the award selection committee. EXO is nominated for New Singer of the Year, Song of the Year, and Best Dance & Electronic Song. The Song of the Year and Best Dance & Electronic Song nominations are for the tremendously popular single Growl from the album XOXO.

With their 2013 album XOXO, EXO has shown spectacular performance during the end of the year award season. In November 2013, EXO became the youngest male group to win the Album of the Year award at the 2013 Mnet Asian Music Awards. EXO were also the Grand Prize winners of the Disk Daesang for XOXO at the 28th Golden Disk Awards. Most recently, EXO were the recipients of the Grand Prize Daesang at the 23rd Seoul Music Awards. While the group made its debut in April 2012, EXO has become the recipient of some of the most prestigious awards in Korean music.

EXO receives another distinction for the Korean Music Awards, as they are the only idol group to be nominated in three categories, this year. Nominations for the Korean Music Awards are determined by various professionals within the music industry including critics, providing a more analytical focus on those who are selected. The 11th Korean Music Awards will be held on February 28th.
