New York Yankees Alex Rodriguez Withdraws Lawsuit Against MLB; Will His Lengthy Suspension Be Shortened?

Alex Rodriguez of the New York Yankees is considered as one of the best players in MLB. However, he is also one of the most disliked because of his reputation, approached in the game, and a plethora of controversies his name has been dragged to.

Last year, A-Rod was suspended by the league for 211 games as a result of the Biogenesis scandal investigation, the same kind of scandal that he got into back in 2009 after he admitted to the public that he used steroid from 2001 until 2003 because of 'enormous pressure' to perform.

Rodriguez was one of dozens of players suspended by the league last year for their involvement in the Biogenesis scandal. A-Rod got more of the spotlight because he was handed the most number of games he has to sit-out.

Right after the suspension was announced, the 14× MLB All-Star made an appeal to cut the suspension. His appeal was granted, bringing down the original 211 to 162 games. However, he was not contented with the softened stance by MLB and challenged the league in the federal court.

On Friday, the case took another major turn as embattled A-Rod took a step that nobody expected.

In a statement released by the league, it revealed that they "have been informed that Alex Rodriguez has reached the prudent decision to end all of the litigation related to the Biogenesis matter,''

"We believe that Mr. Rodriguez's actions show his desire to return the focus to the play of our great game on the field and to all of the positive attributes and actions of his fellow Major League Players. We share that desire."

The league said that the controversial player "has done the right thing by withdrawing his lawsuit. His decision to move forward is in everyone's best interest."

His lengthy ban will not be lifted according to sources, adding that A-Rod is willing to serve his suspension. The player also decided to not join Yankees' spring-training camp in Tampa this month, despite the fact that he could.
