Good Luck Charlie’s Mia Talerico, Who’s Only 5 Years Old, Receives Death Threat; Police Now ‘Taking The Case Seriously’

Mia Talerico is only five years old and at a young age, she already captured the hearts of the people because of her adorable performance in Good Luck Charlie, Disney Channel's hit sitcom that is set to air its finale on February 16.

However, it seems that not everyone is fascinated with the kid, and by everyone, we mean deranged guys. According to TMZ, a person has been sending death threats to the innocent girl and Los Angeles police are now looking into the case.

The entertainment website wrote on its website on February 3:

According to police docs obtained by TMZ ... Mia Talerico began receiving threatening messages last month on her Instagram -- including one reading, "Die Mia, F**king Die in hell! Kill yourself, you deserve to die."

The suspect then sent a picture of Mia's head with a bloody fist covering it ... with this message, "Yes, kill you stupid bitch."

Mia's mother contacted Disney security ... LAPD's Threat Management Unit got involved ... and now cops are making a full court press to track down the suspect.

TMZ added that police are now taking the case seriously.

"Our threat analysis unit always keeps our threat investigations findings and recommendations confidential because often the people who make threats read the media coverage they receive," LAPD Cmdr. Andrew Smith confirmed to PEOPLE.

Disney is yet to release a statement regarding the case.

The show, which is about the a Denver family, the Duncans, who try to adjust to the births of their fourth and fifth children, Charlotte "Charlie" Duncan (Mia Talerico) and Toby Duncan (Logan Moreau), is surprisingly one of the most controversial shows of 2013 and 2014. Despite the fact that it is a family-oriented TV show, Good Luck Charlie still gets scrutinized for some of its elements.

Last month, conservatives were irked by the show after it introduced lesbian couple, the first in Disney's history. Family Research Council and One Million Moms openly blasted the decision of the show, urging it to abort its plan to air the lesbian couple episode. However, Good Luck Charlie decided to forego their plan and received applause from the audiences including former Disney star Miley Cyrus.
