On February 10, it was announced that SHINee's Key would be joining season two of We Got Married Global Edition. The MBC program which features Korean stars opposite celebrities from throughout Asia will begin airing in April. The female entertainer with whom Key will be coupled has yet to be announced. Previously, it was released that Super Junior's Kim Hee Chul would be starring in the program, alongside Taiwanese star Guo Xue Fu. As one of the most fashion-forward idols in K-Pop, it will be interesting to see who Key is paired with.

Key has demonstrated proficiency in English and Japanese, which should make communication between the idol and the star he is paired with easier. In 2013, We Got Married Global Edition kicked off with FTISLAND's Lee Hong Ki and 2PM's Ok Taecyeon as the Korean stars. Lee Hong Ki was paired with Japanese actress Fuji Mina who demonstrated fluency in Korea. As FTISLAND has heavily promoted within Japan, Lee Hong Ki could also communicate with Fuji Mina which created a sense of genuine closeness between the couple. By contrast, Ok Taecyeon was paired with Tawainese star Gui Gui, whose limited Korean and English made for some hilarious moments. This display of cultural exchange helps to differentiate We Got Married Global from the original version of We Got Married.
