Doctor Who Season 8 July Premiere Date [SPOILERS]? Matt Smith Protests Possible River Song Return With Peter Capaldi, 'I'm Really Possessive!'

As "Doctor Who" season 8 continues filming, a possible premiere date may have been leaked by director Ben Wheatley.

During an interview with Uproxx, director Ben Wheatley mentioned his stint directing for "Doctor Who" season 8.

“I’ve got two more weeks shooting Doctor Who, which hopefully is going to go in July.”

This wording may be vague, but it seems to allude to the fact that "Doctor Who" season 8 could have its premiere date during the summer.

DoctorWhoTV reported earlier that season 8 would not be split into two parts in terms of broadcast premiere date, and will instead run all 13 promised episodes consecutively.

Places like Carter Matt believes that since the latest "Doctor Who" season 8 can air without bumping into the 2014 Christmas Special is October, September is a likely goal given that filming has not yet begun.

However, it seems like "Doctor Who" season 8 may have a much earlier premiere date, which will no doubt please Whovians everywhere.

And as Peter Capaldi takes over Matt Smith's role, it seems the one actor Smith does not want to come back in season 8 is River Song.

"I’m really possessive over Alex [Kingston]. I said this to Steven [Moffat]. I was like, ‘Listen, just don’t! Just not Alex. Anyone else, but don’t give [Capaldi] River,'" says Matt Smith during a Q&A panel at the New Orleans Comic Con.

"But Peter is the Doctor now so hey, what can I do? But I am really proud of the fact that Alex was part of number Eleven’s life. My wife!”

And although there are lots of theories about how River Song could return to "Doctor Who" during season 8, perhaps it's better that storyline lies in the past.

Either way, would you be excited for "Doctor Who" season 8 to possibly have its premiere date in July?
