Beat Out the OST's - Major Entertainment Companies To Release Albums

The first month of K-Pop was dominated by drama and movie OST's. As YG Entertainment CEO Yang Hyun Suk said, it may have been a sign that the K-Pop scene was devoid of "good" music.

The wait is finally over. All the major entertainment companies are set to release their newest efforts in the coming weeks in an effort to take back the music scene.

Twice a year, it seems, major comebacks by superstar groups coincide. However, a comeback "battle" of this scale is previously unseen in the K-Pop music scene. Barring the runaway success of MC the Max, K-Pop stars were generally "losing" to OST's. This may have necessitated this kind of comeback.

SM Entertainment's representative into the foray is Girls' Generation. Girls' Generation is making their comeback on February 19th with the single "Mr.Mr", which was produced by The Underdogs, famous for producing tracks for Beyonce, Justin Timberlake, and Chris Brown. Girls' Generation's has been taking the top spot with every single that they've released so far, so whether the strong R&B melody will carry them to the top will be interesting to watch.

YG Entertainment is also sending out their girl group, 2NE1. They are releasing their single on February 24th. The music video is rumored to be the biggest, most expensive 2NE1 music video ever with 2NE1 going so far as to hiring additional staffs and computer graphics engineers to be a part of the team making the music video. Will 2NE1 be the victor in the battle of girl groups?

JYP Entertainment is also releasing their heavy hitter, Sunmi. After receiving unexpected acclaim with her single "24 Hours", she is expected to continue the run with her new single, "Full Moon", expected to release on the 17th of February. Produced by hitmaker Brave Brothers, Sunmi's newest single is already being highly anticipated. The fact that JYP Entertainment, who is notorious for only using in-house producers, is using Braver Brothers' song is also one of the reasons for the fans high anticipation.

FNC Entertainment is one of the few entertainment companies that is growing to be the size of YG, JYP, and SM. They will releasing CNBLUE with Jung Yonghwa's self-written title song, "Can't Stop". Jung Yonghwa's song writing prowess was verified by CNBLUE's previous title song "I'm Sorry". Their comeback date is February 24th, which is on the same date as 2NE1's comeback.

Woollim Entertainment partnered with SM Entertainment and will release their most beloved band, NELL. NELL is one of the hottest bands in Korea, so their entry into this battle makes it all the more competitive and fierce.

K-Pop is finally coming back to life with its major entertainment companies hurrying the comeback stages of their top-flight superstars.
