LOEN Music Changes Its Name To '1theK' With Sights On Becoming A 'Global K-Pop Hub'

Korean record label LOEN Entertainment changed the name of content production department LOEN Music to 1theK.

The announcement was made through the company's official YouTube channel on February 17.

"LOEN MUSIC changes the name to '1theK' to be a global K-POP hub!" reads the declaration.

Similarly, the LOEN Music Facebook page was updated with the news and a prize giveaway for fans.

The post reads, "We reveal the new name of LOEN MUSIC right now! All K-POP contents at 1theK! Please share and call your friends or reply for the newborn '1theK'."

They company also explained that they will give away two autographed B1A4 CDs as a promotion for the name change.

With the name change also comes a perspective change for the company.

As Korean pop music continues to spread across the world finding fans in just about every country, LOEN has revamped their content production department to be more globally minded.

Rebranding themselves as the worldwide K-Pop channel will hopefully open up more channels through which LOEN can expand the influence and popularity of Korean stars around the globe.

1theK acts as the content production sector of LOEN Entertainment and is responsible for assisting agencies with album production - anything that goes into the creation of an album from recording to actually getting it on the shelves. This can include financial investments, CD production, music distribution, and so on.

LOEN Entertainment estimates "it distributes over 300 titles per year and works with capable agencies to discover good albums and invest in the production of music content." They currently work with an exhaustive list of independent record labels in South Korea to distribute new albums including DSP Media, Cube DC, Nega Network, and TS Entertainment.
