On February 17th, two popular female solo artists released their title songs, effectively declaring their comeback into the music scene. One of them was Park Ji Yoon, who is in her 18th year as an solo artist. The other was Sunmi, who debuted in 2007 with the group Wonder Girls and debuted as a solo artist last August.

They are oddly connected as well - Park Ji Yoon was one of JYP Entertainment's foremost solo artist before leaving for a different singing career, while Sunmi is currently in JYP and is consider their most prominent female solo artist right now. Park Ji Yoon is now a part of MYSTIC89, the entertainment company represented by Yoon Jong Shin. In a way, their match-up has become a fight between two of the best producers in Korea - Yoon Jong Shin and Park Jin Young.

Last year, Park Ji Yoon gained popularity with the single "Mr. Lee (Feat. San-E)". Sunmi had an immensely successful comeback with the single "24 Hours".

This year, Park Ji Yoon is coming back with the digital single album Inner Space and her title song, "Beep". It is a retro dance song that fits Park Ji Yoon. She had previously dabbled with other genre of music, including folk, but the consensus is that the dance music is the genre best fitted for Park Ji Yoon.

Sunmi will look to capitalize on her sexy image that she portrayed through "24 Hours", which was just as much a sensation as Park Ji Yoon's "Coming-of-Age Ceremony" in late 2000. Her new single, "Full Moon", is also based on the sexy concept (with just a hint of horror). It was produced by Brave Brothers. The only setback that she might face is the backlash that's been building up against the overuse of "sexy" in the current K-Pop scene.

Releasing the same song on the same day, Sunmi and Park Ji Yoon are set to compete despite the 10 year gap in age. They are both drawing interest, but it will be curious to see if one remains more popular than the toher.

Will their same-day comeback work together or against each other? It will be a sight to see.
