Sochi 2014 Winter Olympics Most Shocking Interview Ever? Dutch Speedskating Coach Says American Football Is A Foolish Sport

The United States lost the gold medal in men's hockey to Canada in the ongoing Sochi 2014 Winter Olympic. After that, they bowed to Finland, leaving without a medal finish in such sport. The past week really put American sports fans in a sad corner.

As if this depression is not enough, one Dutch coach hit on the US sports Olympic Committee saying Americans are their wasting talents. He took a jab on the country's most loved sports, American football.

In an interview with CBS Sports, Netherlands National speedskating coach Jillert Anema said that the US should prioritize a sport like speedskating and stop spending athletes on some foolish sports like gridiron.

"You have a lot of attention for foolish sport, like American football. You waste a lot of talent, athletic talent, in a sport where it's meant to kill each other, to injure each other. ... And when you compete once every four years, with talent, with a few lone wolves, who are skating, you can't beat the world, it's no way."

"You're [the US] is so narrow-minded, and you waste a lot of good talent in a sport that sucks," he added.

Anema is not yet done. After belittling American football, he compared his country's dominance in speedskating to America's reign in basketball.

"I think that the gold medal in speedskating is just as valuable as the gold medal in basketball, and we won 22 and you'll never win 22 in basketball."

These are bold words from the Dutch coach. Yes, 21 of their 22 medals are from speedskating. However, the US sits atop the medal tally with 27. Most of all, the Winter Olympics is not all about speedskating. Let's see where this goes.
