'Sin City 2' Sequel Already A Go? Frank Miller And Robert Rodriguez Making Up For Nine-Year Gap Since First Movie!

There was a good nine years between the groundbreaking "Sin City" and "Sin City 2: A Dame To Kill For." Robert Rodriguez has confirmed watching the final cut for the sequel, and he also had a teasing revelation.

Rodriguez was speaking to SiriusXM's "Ron and Fez Show" and his statements were transcribed by Collider:

"Yeah-the second Sin City- I was just here with Frank Miller last night and we were watching it last night. [We] finished the cut, effects are being done, it will come out in August."

Of course, he had to show the final cut from the storyteller himself, Frank Miller:

"He [Miller] watched Part 2-he watched it last night with me and then at the end he said, he didn't have any comments, he was very happy with it. And he said, now about part three.... Started telling me how he's going to do part three. So he's already there on part three."

Of course, it is quite a risk since the aforementioned gap between the first and second movie (nine whole years!) will definitely be a test if the material will still appeal to a new generation of audiences. They are not riding on any momentum whatsoever.

On the assumption that the project would indeed take place, the question shifts to the plot. Which volume of the Sin City Graphic Novels should come to life in on the big screen? Screenrant has this one:

"One possible - and obvious - scenario for Sin City 3 would be for Miller to adapt his "Hell and Back" comic book storyline, which follows the often-intoxicated (and hallucinating) ex-war hero Wallace on his own crazy trip (in multiple meanings of the term) through the hellhole that is Basin City. A decent number of Sin City comic book fans seem to regard the "Hell and Back" issues as one of Miller's best - and nastiest - stories from his Noir-inspired series; indeed, a few years ago there were widespread rumors that the eventual movie adaptation would feature Johnny Depp in the lead."

That would be a fine proposition, but in the meantime, "Sin City 2: A Dame To Kill For" releases on August 22, 2014.
