Pink Performs 'Somewhere Over The Rainbow' At Oscars 2014 As Liza Minnelli Looks On; 'Just Like A Pill' Singer’s Act A Far Cry From Her Usual Acrobatics!

Pink performed "Somewhere Over The Rainbow" at the Oscars 2014 as a tribute to the 75th anniversary of the seminal film "Wizard of Oz" as Liza Minelli looked on.The "Just Like A Pill" singer's performance was a far cry from her usual acrobatics and instead showcased her powerhouse vocals.

Liza Minelli is the most famous daughter of Judy Garland, the iconic actress who played Dorothy in the film. Also in attendance were Liza Minelli's siblings, Joey and Lorna Luft.

During Pink's performance of "Somewhere Over The Rainbow," she looked stunning in her ruby red gown with plunging neckline all the way down to her waist. The color was reminiscent of the famous ruby shoes that Judy Garland had to click together thrice in order to go back to Kansas from the land of Oz.

In singing "Somewhere Over The Rainbow," Pink also went back to her own instrument-her voice-which was so different from the aerial acrobatics and other stage gimmicks that is very common to her shows. And the result was breathtaking, according to E!

Pink received a much-deserved standing ovation from the crowd of the Oscars 2014 for her own rendition of "Somewhere Over The Rainbow," including Liza Minelli and her siblings.

Liza Minelli spoke about her mother, who died in 1969, at the red Carpet."Our mother was great, she loved her family, and her kids more than anything," she told CNN.

"She raised us with humor, and she raised us to understand that not everything was going to be great - but how to laugh through it," Liza Minelli added, as she admitted being nervous.

"I want to do everything right. This is for mama. And so I'm - I'm vaguely nervous," she said, according to MailOnline.

Also receiving another standing ovation was Tony winner Idina Menzel who performed "'Let It Go" from the Disney hit movie "Frozen." The song was nominated, and eventually adjudged as the Best Original Song by the Academy.

Other performances also wowed the crowd including Pharrell's "Happy," from "Despicable Me 2" soundtrack, Karen O's "The Moon Song" from the movie "Her" and U2's "Ordinary Love" from the soundtrack of "Mandela: Long Walk To Freedom." All songs were nominated for Best Original Songs.
