Pregnant Scarlett Johansson Wins Social Media Support Against BDS Campaign For SodaStream Ad; ‘The Avengers’ Actress To Soon Marry Fiance Romain Dauriac?
Pregnant Scarlett Johansson, who is reportedly set to marry fiance Romain Dauriac, is winning social media support on the BDS campaign for boycott when she starred in the ad for Israeli soda maker SodaStream.
The Facebook page "I Support Scarlett Johansson Against the Haters" was launched already breached the 30,000 "likes" in less than a month even without massive promotion and budget, Liran Kapoano, one of the page's co-founders told jewish siteThe Algemeiner.
Liran Kapoano explained: "It was truly an unexpected wave of enthusiasm that completely undercut the 'BDS is winning social media' narrative and it is still going on. I really believe we have opened up the floodgates to a potential major backlash against BDS. This platform may be the foundation for something bigger."
The controversy started when Scarlett Johansson , who is now pregnant with her first child, starred in the SuperBowl commercial for SodaStream officially shown during the Super Bowl XLVIII on February 2. But a video of the commercial was already leaked online prior to the event.
The page's description explained that the BDS (boycott, divestment and sanctions) "movement" has targeted pregnant Scarlett Johansson because "they hate Israel."
One of the casualties in the controversy was pregnant Scarlett Johansson cutting ties with Oxfam, which criticized her SodaStream ad. She then released a statement which said that her decision was mainly due to "a fundamental difference of opinion in regards to the boycott, divestment and sanctions movement."
E! News first broke out the news that "The Avengers" star is pregnant with her first chlid with fiance Romain Dauriac.
Although the actress told People that "being engaged is an exciting time to enjoy," the pregnant Scarlett Johansson and her fiance have not really released any details yet of the wedding date, or whether or not it will happen after the baby is born.
The pair hooked up in November 2012 after the Scarlett Johansson and Nate Naylor split. Pregnant Scarlett Johansson was previously married to Ryan Reynolds.
