Review: BESTie Gets Pulses Racing On The Duble Sidekick-Produced 'Thank U Very Much' [VIDEO]

Fame is a funny thing.

On first glance, the members of the rookie group BESTie have the solid singing ability, gorgeous looks and original sound to merit pop superstardom.

But the group has yet to make a major impact on the K-pop charts or to find substantial crossover success in the West.

Though there are signs that the commercial situation for the band could be improving, with the release of their new music video for the attitude-laced single "Thank You Very Much."

Released on Feb. 28, the clip has already racked up 230,000 views on YouTube and it's not hard to see why.

Piecing together a distorted 1970s-sounding guitar riff, classical strings and a 1980s power R&B sound, renowned K-pop production team Duble Sidekick creates an intriguing blend of sounds and styles on "Thank You Very Much."

With shades of pop divas of spanning several decades, from Whitney Houston to Beyonce, BESTie show signs of a powerful frontline of talent.

These girls can sing.

And though there are extremely silly parts to the song "Thank You Very Much," (the English voice repeating the title in the chorus is laugh out loud funny), the overall effect is a cascade of catchy pop hooks that are difficult to resist.

BESTie is a group you're going to want to watch out for in the future, due in no small part to their undeniable charm.

A major part of any girl group or boy band's appeal, this band has charisma for days. But what is really noteworthy about BESTie is their apparent desire to create a sound far away from the safety of everyday homogenized pop.

This reviewer hopes it's a gamble that pays off for this group.
