Simon D Goes Solo - Former Supreme Team Member Joins Jay Park's New Label AOMG

Simon D (age 30, real name Jung Ki Seok), former member of duo Supreme Team, has recently joined Jay Park's (age 27) label AOMG.

One music official stated on the 9th, "Simon D has become Jay Park's partner and representative for his label, AOMG, which was officially established in October of last year.  From now on, the two will be responsible for the producers and artists under the agency."

Simon D, who was a faithful member of Amoeba Culture for 6 years since his debut, had left the label last year. He had stated on January that he would continue activities independently. This vague response, however, triggered the curiosity of his fans and led them to wonder if he would be establishing his own agency or be signing with another one.

Jay Park and Simon D came together because of their love for hip-hop, common careers as well as their shared views of the orientation and direction that the label should follow. Through this partnership, both artists aim to construct an optimal environment for hip-hop musicians to perform, compose and produce music.

AOMG, an acronym for Above Ordinary Music Group, aims to do precisely that: to create music that is extraordinary. The artists that will accomplish this consist of Gray, Loco, Jun Goon, Ugly Duck, DJ Pumpkin, DJ Wegun, Jay Park, and his B-Boy crew AOM.

The music official added, "Simon D wanted to make music in a new environment and with new artists. The two (Jay Park and Simon D) have similar goals in that they want to expand Korean hip-hop more extensively into international territories through AOMG, showcasing distinct fashions, performances and hip-hop culture."

Simon D's birthday, which is on the 9th, was celebrated on the 8th around 10 P.M. at club 'THE A' in Gangnam. The event was titled 'BACKnFORTH - RE:Birthday'  and was a birthday party as well as a small concert. This was the first performance by Simon D ever since he left Amoeba Culture and he was joined by DJ Pumpkin, DJ Wegun in addition to several other AOMG musicians on stage.
