Orphan Black was among the favorites to win several awards in the Canadian Screen Awards. The show actually boasts a field-leading 14 nominations. Maslany was adjudged as the runaway winner, mainly because of her effective portrayal of seven different characters in the show. The Regina actress plays multiple clones, all with different personalities, accent, attitude, gestures, and all.
"This is such an honor for me to be here tonight and nominated opposite so many incredible actresses," said after receiving the award in a ceremony held in Toronto.
The show's first season is now available for streaming on Amazon Prime Instant Video. It will be back for a second campaign on April 19.
