K-Pop Double-Take" is a column highlighting recent releases that have yet to receive the attention we feel they deserve.

Though the big headline for the new Girls' Generation EP "Mr.Mr." was all about the title track's hard-hitting electro sound, one of the other album highlights is the more organic, "Goodbye."

The members of Girls' Generation deliver sultry vocal performances reminiscent of Britney Spears over a backing track that, at least, sounds like a live band. It is another refreshing departure for the group, whose new EP is striking in their willingness to go to sonic places they have never gone before.

"Goodbye" is the closest to rock and roll that Girls' Generation have come yet and the sound suits them just fine.

Most importantly, the track just feels good. The performance sounds natural and the production is soothingly minimalist.

Arranging songs for nine singers to perform is no small task, but the production team handles it with ease here.

Everything in the track, the voice, the bass, drums, guitars and electric keyboard, all sit perfectly in the mix. This is what big time production is supposed to sound like.

It is odd that there has been talk of whether or not the members of Girls' Generation are sexy enough to be pop stars (not that attractiveness should be a prerequisite for making good music anyway).

On a song like "Goodbye," SNSD shows why they are all sexier than some flavor of the month teenage girl group; they've been on top of the K-pop scene long enough to have nothing left to prove.

What could be sexier than that?
