Will 'Girls' Star Lena Dunham Quit Acting After Low Ratings As ‘Saturday Night Live’ Host? Jack Antonoff’s Girlfriend Wants To Write Roles For ‘Other Women’

Will "Girls" star Lena Dunham quit acting? Following low ratings as "Saturday Night Live" host last week, Lena Dunham cleared the air about recent rumors that she wants to quit acting after "Girls."

Lena Dunham told Glamour magazine: "I don't know if I'm going to want to act anymore. I'm always relieved on the days I don't have to. I'd rather give parts to other women than be the woman having the parts."

And while this sounds like the "Girls" actress would rather be behind the screen than in front of it, Dunham debunked rumors that she would stop acting, at a "Girls" panel at the Television Academy.

When asked if she was quitting acting, Dunham quickly said: "No!"

"I'm of two minds about this," co-star Allison Williams added, E! News reports. "Number one she's so phenomenally talented as an actress--and I can say that first hand--that it would be sad if she stopped. That said, part two is that if she's going to be writing roles for women I would like to be the first in line because she writes such good stuff for women and men.

"She's just a phenomenal writer," Williams continued. "So I know she'll do whatever she feels like doing. I just hope she doesn't stop acting because she's so good."

Co-star Jemima Kirke joked: "Didn't Jay Z say he was going to quit rapping awhile ago?"

The rumors come after Lena's gig as "Saturday Night Live" host last week. According to Deadline, ratings dropped for "SNL" with Dunham as host and The National as musical guest; the episode "averaged a 4.1 household rating in the metered markets and a 2.1 in adults 18-49 in the markets with Local People Meters. That was down 11% in households and down 19% in 18-49 from last week's show hosted by Jim Parsons. These are SNL's second-lowest results of the season in both households and 18-49," Deadline reports.

Dunham is currently living with her boyfriend of two years, Jack Antonoff (of the bands fun. and Bleachers), The Huffington Post reports.

Catch "Girls" Sundays at 10:00 PM on HBO.
