Girls’ Generation & 2NE1 - Their Similarly Timed Comeback To Welcome The Spring Weather

Earlier this year the music industry was piping hot with comeback news left and right. Announcement of just one comeback is enough to stir up the crowd, but make that 2 comebacks of the hottest girl groups, and you can't stop the public from buzzing.

Girls' Generation and 2NE1's comebacks commanded the attention of the public. These two 'best' girl groups knew their comebacks would be timed around the same period, but they didn't avoid the competition. Thanks to that, the March music charts were the center of attention, and it was a win-win for both parties.

To be sure, fans of both groups were very ready to defend their groups. They held fan wars online, which led to an increased interest in the music industry. In the end, this was helpful to both Girls' Generation and 2NE1. Because of their different types of music, they might not really consider each other as rivals. Even still, each group is still very much aware of the other group. That's why the groups were eager to put on a better performance. From the fans' point of view, they were able to enjoy spectacular performances and watch the two groups battle it out onstage.

Girls' Generation and 2NE1 both appeared on the March 9th broadcast of SBS' "Inkigayo". Viewers and audience members held their breaths to see who would take the ending spot of honor on the show. It wasn't Girls' Generation. It wasn't even 2NE1. The last spot of honor went to TVXQ, who's been in the show business longer than either of these groups.

We can't dismiss rivals as necessarily being a bad thing. When one group is getting worn out, the other group is able to spark up a competitive spirit, and vice versa. For both Girls' Generation, 2NE1, and their fans, their overlapping comebacks have been an interesting point of interest.
