Although it's hard to imagine TVXQ singing Super Junior's 'Sorry Sorry' or 4Minute singing Kara's 'Damaged Lady,' something like that could have very well happened. It's almost impossible to imagine some of the most popular K-Pop songs being sung by other artists, but it almost happened with Girl's Day's hit 'Something.'

Double Sidekick, the composing duo for 'Something' recently appeared on Obscene, a show on Mnet hosted by Kim Gura. The composers told Kim Gura that 'Something' was written for Hyorin. Hyorin, a member of Sistar, recently debuted her first solo album, 'Love & Hate.'

Although the initial reaction towards the song was not very good and Hyorin rejected it from her album, Double Sidekick offered it to Girl's Day. Which led to 'Something' become a sensation in South Korea, and resulted in numerous parodies and covers.

Kim Gura couldn't hide his surprise upon hearing that the song was written for Hyorin. He pointed out that the signature dance for 'Something,' where Girl's Day is on the floor snapping their fingers, would suit Hyorin very well.

While some entertainment companies, like YG Entertainment, are known for their in house production team, production teams like Double Sidekick often make songs and then offer it to other artists.

Considering that the song was meant to be a track for a solo artist, it may seem odd that Double Sidekick offered the song to Girl's Day after Hyorin passed it up.

But both Hyorin and Girl's Day are known for their impressive vocals and sexy dance style, so it's understandable why Double Sidekick offered the song to Girl's Day. Even though it started off as a song for a solo artist, 'Something' ended up becoming one of the most popular songs of the year when Girl's Day sang it.

Even though it was written for Hyorin, the song suited Girl's Day really well, which leads to the question: What other chart-topping K-Pop songs were written for a different artist or group?
