K-Pop Throwback: Swings Assembles Korean Hip-Hop Elites Beenzino, Gray And Zion T. For 'A Real Lady' [VIDEO]

Swings sure knows how to put together a winning team.

The rapper's 2013 hit "A Real Lady" is a virtual who's who of South Korean hip-hop, as Beenzino, Gray and Zion T. all deliver homerun performances on the track.

But beyond the heavy-hitting performances this veritable all-star rap team delivers, at the heart of the song (as with any great hip-hop track) lies in the beat.

It wouldn't quite be accurate to call the musical backdrop of "A Real Lady" a retro hip-hop beat, as there is something distinctly modern-sounding about the song. Yet, the horn stabs and soulful guitar offer the track a certain authenticity lacking in a most of today's hip-hop from anywhere in the world.

Consider it a contemporary classic.

Much like Jay-Z's 2007 classic "Roc Boys (And The Winner Is)," Swing's song includes references to the past, yet with an overriding vibe that is firmly rooted in the present.

But what's a rap song without the rapping?

There is an interesting commonality between Swings, Beenzino, Gray and Zion T.

Though they each have distinctive styles, they each have the ability to keep the listener engaged with rhymes that never seem to get repetitive or predictable.

In a K-pop scene where hip-hop boy bands appear to be the next big thing, it is important to draw a distinction between what these artists do compared to any new flavor of the month.

Whether it is in the way they sing the infectious hook on "A Real Lady" or even just handle the outro, there is an authenticity these four hip-hop artists have that can't be faked.
