K-Pop Destinations: On Location With "Avengers 2"

While there are plenty of K-Drama and K-Pop locations to see on your trip to Korea, during the next month visitors may also happen upon some Hollywood filmmaking.

Scenes in the Hollywood blockbuster "The Avengers 2," starring Scarlett Johansson, Robert Downey Jr., Chris Hemsworth and Korean actress Kim Soo Hyun, will be shot in and around Seoul.

Filming will take place from March 30 to April 12 at locations that include Mapo Bridge, Digital Media City, Gangnam Boulevard in Seoul, and Uiwang-si in Gyeonggi-do.

Mapo Bridge in Mapo-gu, Seoul will be the first filming location. Mapo Bridge was the fourth bridge to be built over the Han River. The night view from that bridge is a must-see for anyone who visits Seoul.
Filming will also take place at Cheongdam Bridge, which connects Seoul's Gwangjin-gu and Gangnam-gu. Nearby tourist attractions include Ttukseom Hangang Park.

The "Avengers 2" Gangnam scenes will be shot on the road from Gangnam Station to Kyobo Tower. You can get there by taking Seoul Subway Line 2. Aside from witnessing movie magic, it's also a great location for shopping at nearby Apgujeong Rodeo Street, as well as at the Lotte and Shinsegae Department stores.

While you are in Gangnam, be sure to stop by K-Star Road. It's the newly designated street between the Galleria Department Store and the top agencies, SM Entertainment and Cube Entertainment. The street features the stories of different stars with interactive activities, exhibits and photo zones, as well as restaurants and cafes frequented by celebrities. Plans to add celebrity handprints are in the works.
