"Lord of the Rings" director Peter Jackson is lending his $70 million private jet to help search for the missing Malaysia Airlines flight 370 over the Indian Ocean, in an attempt to find the missing aircraft and passengers. However, Peter Jackson does not want any publicity for his good deed.

"Peter would not seek publicity for something like this and would actively avoid it in fact,'' spokesman Matt Dravitzki said about Peter Jackson lending his private jet, according to the Herald. "A lot of civilian and military aircraft are involved in the search and it's kind of disappointing that because one is owned by a celebrity it becomes a matter of news when there are [over] 200 people missing.''

It's unclear whether the service of Jackson's private jet was offered or requested.

Dravitzki confirmed the "Lord of the Rings" director's Gulfstream G650 had been chartered to join in the search efforts, CBS News reports via New Zealand Herald. His plane is reportedly helping facilitate communications among teams scouring the Indian Ocean for the Boeing 777.

Peter Jackson is said to have purchased the jet last March for 80 million NZD, or around $69 million.

According to E! News, Jackson's G650 is currently searching for the missing plane over the oceans off the coast of Australia.

Malaysia Airlines Flight 370 was carrying 239 people when it went missing on March 8 for reasons still to be discovered, while traveling to Beijing from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

Recently, Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Razak declared that flight went down over the Indian Ocean, saying in a formal statement, "We have to assume beyond reasonable doubt that MH370 has been lost and that none of those on board have survived. We must now accept all evidence suggests the plane went down in the southern Indian Ocean."
