K-Pop Style Essentials: How To Look Like A K-Pop Star (Off-Duty)

It is common knowledge that K-Pop idols look stylish even when off duty.

Sometimes, their fashion off stage is even more enviable and eye catching. As such, people follow their fashion styles (like airport fashion especially, casual outings, dance practice fashion etc) religiously, hoping to resemble even a little bit of what their favorite K-Pop stars look like in their day-to-day activities.

This article aims to explore certain looks from several K-Pop celebrities and extract certain must-have fashion items to resemble their casual-chic off duty looks.

1. Sunglasses

Shades are one of the most common and stereotypical fashion pieces that remind one of a K-Pop idol. This may normally arise from the fact that the idols will go sans make-up when they are off duty; hence the shades are typically worn to cover their bare faces.

This is evidently the one fashion must-have that majority of K-Idols will don when they are not performing (they even wear this often during a performance). This repeated trend could be observed from their many airport fashion looks. Specifically, the Ray-Ban Wayfarer has been a particular prominent style of shades that is commonly spotted on the celebrities, although it had probably gotten less popular than it used to be.

2. Caps

Yet another popular item among K-Idols is wearing a hat, more specifically snapback caps, baseball caps, beanies and other kinds.

Sometimes a fashion item can also be worn for convenience. Alike to the sunglasses, hats are worn not only for their style value but also to mask certain bad hair days or simply un-styled hair, which is especially apt for K-Idols when they are off duty. It is also interesting to note how the wearing of a cap/beanie is normally paired up with a pair of sunglasses to achieve the whole "K-Idol off duty look".

This look can be perceived as often overused, but its casual-chic factor makes it a timeless style that definitely gives off an effortless and fashionable outlook on any idol or person.

3. Sport shoes

There is no question that South Koreans have revolutionized the way sport shoes are worn. No longer simply worn for exercise, sport shoes are now deemed a fashion statement. Now worn with almost any kind of outfits, sport shoes have been integrated into the daily lives and fashion of most Koreans.

Quite noticeably, the reigning sports shoes brand in Korea seems to be New Balance. K-Idols are constantly spotted in their shoes. Koreans are also huge fan of the brand, donning a colorful pair with any kind of outfits, even formal-looking getups. Nonetheless, other sporting brands like Nike, Reebok&Adidas (Reebok has been a subsidiary of Adidas since 2005) and Puma have their fair stand in the market share as well.

The sporty creation continues to prove itself as a comfortable and stylish option for K-Idols at any time of their schedules - be it off duty or on duty.
