T-Ara's Jiyeon is set to release her first solo song, joining the ranks of girl group members making their solo debut.

Core Contents Media released the first teaser video for '1MIN 1SEC' on April 8, and by the end of the day it had been viewed nearly 50,000 times.

The short video teaser shows Jiyeon looking very sexy, showing her black and white silhouette flashing in and out of a solid black image. She sings the English words 'Never Ever' and the title of the song in Korean. There is a short instrumental hint in the short video, teasing the electronic pop sound of the song.

Idols will often find other pursuits in between promotional cycles, and it appears that there is a trend of girl group members going solo. Jiyeon joins 4Minute's HyunA, SECRET's Jieun SISTAR's Hyorin as a girl group member who has tried her hand at being a solo artist. Each of the idols gained popularity outside of their group with their solo songs.

HyunA's 'Bubble Pop' has been viewed over 70 million times, making it one of the most watched K-Pop vides on YouTube. She also appeared in Psy's hit 'Gangnam Style,' and is the most prominent member of 4Minute.

Song Jieun of SECRET released several songs for drama OSTs and a duet 'Yesterday' with Hwanhee, but in 2011 her 'Going Crazy' featuring pre-B.A.P Bang Yongguk became Jieun's first song to achieve number one on Korea's Gaon chart.

SISTAR's Hyorin released her first solo album 'Love & Hate' last November, but had also been known in the past for her solo songs. She sang the official Korean version of 'Let It Go' for Disney's Frozen, and is respected as both a solo artist and an idol.

These girl group members who have successfully produced solo songs have opened the doors for other girl group members to do the same. Jiyeon may be the latest idol to come out with a solo song, but if these idols have continual success there may be a trend for idols to come out with solo promotions in between group promotional cycles.

Although '1MIN 1SEC' is Jiyeon's first solo song, she has acted in several dramas and appeared on many variety shows.

Although the video doesn't reveal the release date of the full song, there have been rumors that Jiyeon will make her solo debut on April 30.
