Tom Cruise's Scientology beliefs prompted rumors that he's dating fellow Scientologist Laura Prepon. A representative of Katie Holmes' ex husband, meanwhile, denies the "Mission Impossible" actor ever dating the "Orange is the New Black" actress.

The publicist for Tom Cruise claimed that although "they see each other at some functions ... they are not dating," Us Weekly reported. The representatives of both Tom Cruise and Laura Prepon are still denying any romance between the two, which could be doubtful since the actress shares Tom Cruise's Scientology beliefs.

Richard Johnson wrote in his column that appeared on the April 16 issue of Page Six that both Tom Cruise and fellow Scientologist Laura Prepon are secretly seeing each other in order to avoid the media circus.

"It's the buzz on the set of her show," Johnson wrote, citing an insider with knowledge of the situation.

Last fall, Grazia reported that Tom Cruise picked up Laura Prepon in a vintage car for a dinner date at the Manor Hotel where a bottle of 1979 Merlot was waiting for them.

According to the publication: "They spent three hours laughing and joking. It's clear Tom is smitten and after the date he was on cloud nine. They had their second date at the restaurant, too, meeting for Sunday brunch, and then she accompanied him a few days later to a dinner party at John [Travolta]'s home."

Tom Cruise's Scientology beliefs will make Laura Prepon a better match for him unlike ex wife Katie Holmes who never truly believed the teachings of the group.

"Tom has known Laura for a few years now and they are all in the same social group that includes John Travolta and his wife Kelly Preston," Grazia added.

"He's always been fascinated by her and, since seeing her in 'Orange Is the New Black,' that has turned into an attraction. So he bit the bullet and asked her out," the report added.
