EXO 'Overdose' Album Release Postponed To Undetermined Date Due To Ferry Tragedy

Through a statement on the official EXO website, SM Entertainment has made the decision to postpone the release of Overdose until a yet to be determined date. This comes in light of the April 16 ferry accident which has halted all music chart programs and major entertainment activities. Fans of EXO had the opportunity to watch the April 15 live stream broadcast through Samsung Music which included the music video for Overdose, however, the video has yet to be released.

In the statement, SM Entertainment provides their primary reasons for postponing the album, “The decision has been made to offer our condolences to the victims and our hopes and wishes that the missing persons will return back safely. We ask the fans who have been waiting for the release of the album for their understanding and patience.” The agency went on to express appreciation for fans who have great anticipation for the album.

Overdose was scheduled for release on April 21. The move to delay the release was a difficult one for SM Entertainment, who has recently filed litigation against individuals who were responsible for the leak of the MBC dance practice video which led to audio leaks of the title track. The grieving period for the Sewol Ferry accident also disrupted Thursday'sM! Countdown comeback stage for EXO.

Many fans, particularly those outside of Korea, displayed their frustration with the disruption of EXO's comeback activities. However, EXO fans in Korea have began to join other fan clubs in gathering supplies to be delivered to the families of the victims. Once it is appropriate, SM Entertainment will announce the rescheduled album release date.
