Hyunbin's “The Fatal Encounter” Ranks #1 in Weekend Box Office Sales

Hyunbin's new movie "The Fatal Encounter", which premieres on April 30, already recorded #1 in box office ticket reservation sales.

On April 18, the Korean Film Commission stated that "The Fatal Encounter" (25%) exceeded ticket sales of "The Amazing Spider Man 2" (23.2%), rising to #1. The two movies have not yet opened in theaters, which is unconventional.

"The Fatal Encounter" is Hyunbin's first film after his discharge from the army. The story revolves around the battle of doctrines of King Jeongjo (played by Hyunbin) and Queen Jeongsun (played by Han Ji Min).

"The Amazing Spider Man 2" is Sony's main superhero series. After Sam Raimi as the director of "Spiderman" 1-3, Marc Webb, famous for "500 Days of Summer", has taken over for "The Amazing Spider Man" series.

Hollywood blockbuster "Divergent" rose to #3 with 9.3%, and "Captain America: The Winter Soldier" placed fourth after 3 weeks of placing #1. "Captain America" already exceeded 3,880,000 ticket sales, and is expected to reach 4 million by the end of the weekend.

The "Grand Piano", combining thriller and music, placed #5 with 5.0%, and "Son of God" held #6 with 4.5%.
