‘Gap Dong’ Lee Joon, This Is Why He Deserves To Be Called ‘Acting Idol’

MBLAQ's Lee Joon is being spotlighted for his work not as a singer but as an actor in his new role. He plays a psychopath character that is obsessed with a serial killer in this thriller.

tvN's "Gap Dong" aired its first episode on the 11th, and is known to be a follow up work of PD Jo Soo Won, who directed SBS' "I Can Hear Your Voice." The show was also introduced as a TV series of the movie Memories of Murder, and is being met with a hot response. Actors Sung Dong Il and Yoon Sang Hyun, who have been acknowledged for their acting talent, also star in the drama.

The first episode of "Gap Dong" was surprising. Lee Joon, who has been criticized much since he is originally an idol, acted exceptionally well. His role wasn't expected to be a very large one, but viewers' interests for the character grew over the 1st and 2nd episodes. The 3rd episode preview showed that he'll be the center of the story.

What's interesting to note is the nature of the character that Lee Joon has taken in this drama. While other idol turned actors like to take on 'cool' roles to keep up their image, Lee Joon chose a relatively 'dangerous' role of a psychopath.

Lee Joon captivated the viewers with his eerie laughter and innocent facial expressions. It's no longer accurate to say that he's just an 'idol.' It's more appropriate to refer to him as an 'acting idol.'

Lee Joon's character plays a vital role in "Gap Dong" and is expected to carry on the events leading up to the murders. It's also important that he discovers Gap Dong. He'll also have a hidden relationship with the main character, played by Yoon Sang Hyun.

Will Lee Joon continue showing off his talent in the remaining 18 episodes? We wish him all the best in this thriller, and look forward to seeing him continue with his great acting.
