If You Love R&B Or Hip Hop, Then Jay Park May Be The K-Pop Artist For You

Jay Park is one of the most unique figures in K-Pop, having segued from B-Boy to boy band leader, from solo artist to agency CEO. He was most recently the subject of Mnet's The 4 Things Show and is one of the newest mentors on the dance competition program Dancing 9. His captivating spirit did not go unnoticed by American pop artist Lady Gaga, who attended his performance at SXSW's K-Pop Night Out.

Jay Park has mastered the art of wooing throngs of fans with his seductive lyrics, while channeling the nineties R&B styling of singers like R. Kelly. While the agency AOMG may have launched with a roster of new artists, Jay Park has returned to his crooner roots with Metronome.

The title track which equates an out of sync relationship to a metronome, however, the standout song is Ride Me. The lyrics of Ride Me read like a cross between a Ginuwine, Ne-Yo, and R.Kelly song which makes the single so special. The Cha Cha Malone produced song evokes the same sexy sentiment as Welcome, showcasing the simplistic brilliance of Jay Park.

Simon D (Simon Dominic) who was recently named Co-CEO of AOMG is hot on the mic as he delivers incredible flow on the release Money Don't Lie. Money Don't Lie features AOMG's Grey, in what is one of the strongest hip hop releases of 2014. While the rap breaks in K-Pop can best be described as hip hop light, Simon D is hardcore rapper.

As AOMG continues to build its arsenal of hip hop and R&B artists, it will be interesting to see if the agency ventures into the realm of male or female groups. Jay Park emerged from controversy as the fomer leader of JYP Entertainment's 2PM to become one of the most successful solo artists in Korean pop. Beyond leading AOMG and his vocal career, he displays comic charisma as a member of SNL Korea's ensemble cast.
