‘Mourning Precedes Performances’ - Singers Cancel All Concerts For Now

As the days pass, singers are canceling their concerts one after another to mourn the Sewol tragedy.

On April 21st 2BiC's agency stated, "The April 16th Sewol sinking accident has resulted in the tears of the entire nation. 2BiC and Nextar Entertainment offer their deepest condolences. 2BiC's 2nd solo concert 'Big Show Unplugged,' which was originally scheduled for the 26th and the 27th will be cancelled. We'll be coordinating the concert for a future event, and we once again offer our heartfelt condolences."

Artists that had planned for concerts last weekend are expressing their deep condolences, too. Lee Jung postponed his 2014 concert because of the terrible accident.

A rep from Lee Jung's agency stated, "Because of the deep sorrow that resulted from the sinking of the Sewol ferry, we will be postponing the 2014 concert that was scheduled for May 17-18 at the AX Hall." Lee Jung posted on his Twitter, "The 2nd solo concert scheduled for the 17th and 18th has been tentatively postponed, and we will be cancelling it. I offer my condolences and prayers for a miracle. God bless."

Lee Seung Chul had been planning for a national tour to start on the 19th at the Indoor Gymnasium. However Lee Seung Chul posted on his Twitter the day before his concert, "Our Lee Seung Chul performance team will be postponing the April 19th performance in Gangneung to APril 26th. We hope our Gangneung fans and the overseas fans from all over the world will understand."

Lee Seung Chul returned to Korea on the 18th after completing his activities in America, and determined that it would be difficult to have a normal concert. He hurriedly held a meeting with his staff. Lee Seung Chul and the concert staff expressed deep mourning, and decided to postpone the show while praying for the safe return of all the missing persons.

The scheduled April 26th Gangneung concert will most likely take place in a calm atmosphere with consideration and wholehearted mourning for all the deceased and bereaved families. The May concerts in Suncheon (3rd), Ilsan (10th), and Cheonan (24th) will proceed as scheduled.

Lee Moon Se was scheduled for a concert that very same day. The previous day Lee Moon Se announced his show cancellation by saying, "I believe that everybody will understand. How can the Korean Lee Moon Se sing while all of the nation of Korea is crying. I think you will understand why we won't be able to cheer and give our applause. I wait for that day when we can regain our strength and sing once again."

Noel's Jun Woo Sung cancelled his solo concert on the 18th as well. His agency stated, "As of right now when everyone is hurting due to the Sewol sinking incident, it doesn't fit the national sentiment to hold an enjoyable concert, so we decided to cancel the plans. We offer words of encouragement to all the families involved, and we pray for the safe return of all the missing persons."
