Sewol Ferry Sinks, But Stars Keep Their Hopes Up Through Yellow Ribbon Campaign

As the Sewol ferry sunk, Korea looked on hoping against hope. A coalition of college students named ALT has started the Yellow Ribbon campaign with the slogan, "One small movement, big miracles."

Many Korean celebrities are also choosing to take part in this campaign.

Actor Park Kwang Hyun tweeted, "To all the people who visit my Twitter page, please hang your yellow ribbons! Let's wish for a miracle," and also tweeted the "Yellow Ribbon" campaign slogan, "One small movement, big miracles."

Actress Kim So Hyun tweeted, "May our desperation summon a huge miracle." She changed her profile picture to a yellow ribbon. Kim Jaejoong also changed his profile picture to a yellow ribbon.

Nam Gyuri and Kim Gyu Ri both tweeted out yellow ribbons, while singer G-Dragon tweeted out a picture of a yellow ribbon without any words.

Singer and actor Shim Eun Jin tweeted out her own yellow ribbon image, saying, "I can't believe people are copyrighting and restricting the use of the yellow ribbon image. Here, I made my own. You can use this in whatever way you want."

Entertainer Park Eun Ji requested prayers for Korea and posted her own picture of a yellow ribbon as well.

College coalition ALT responded to allegations of copyright restriction being placed on the use of yellow ribbons, saying, "We did create the image, and we did copyright it. However, we are not charging for the usage of the image in any way or placed restrictions on its usage."
