Do Idols Only Take On Pretty And Cool Roles? Han Sunhwa & Lee Joon Break The Mold Of Idol Acting

There are two different responses to news of idols stars being cast in dramas. Some like the fact that they can see different sides of the idol star in their acting, while others are worried that they will spoil the flow of the story.

However, two idol stars broke down such prejudice. They are SBS' "God's Gift - 14 Days" star Han Sunhwa and tvN' "Gap Dong" star Lee Joon.

"God's Gift - 14 Days" came to an end on the 22nd. In the drama, Han Sunhwa took on the role of Jenny, an ex-con artist who showed her affection towards Jo Seung Woo.

Right off the bat, Han Sunhwa appeared in a sexy outfit that highlighted her curves to play the ex-con artist, and left a strong impression on viewers.

Not only that, to the delight of the audience, Han Sunhwa twisted her hair about and acted crazy so that she could visit a mental hospital to find Kim Soo Hyun (Lee Bo Young)'s daughter Sae Byul (Kim Yoo Bin).

Han Sunhwa's Jenny character would appear in the drama from time to time with her delightful drama. She expressed her feelings towards Ki Dong Chan without reservation, and was able to lift up the heavy atmosphere of the story.

In another scene Han Sunhwa's character was sick. But in order to help Ki Dong Chan, she slapped her own cheek, eliciting sympathy from the viewers.

On the other hand, Lee Joon showcased his role as a creepy psychopath in the first episode of "Gap Dong," which aired on the 11th. The drama is based on the real-life unsolved Hwaseong serial murders case. The tension in the drama is extremely important, as it is the driving force.

In 2013 Lee Joon appeared in the movie Rough Play and was acknowledged for his acting skills. With the new work "Gap Dong" Lee Joon is taking on another shocking transformation as a psychopath named Ryu Tae Oh, who juggles being good and evil.

Lee Joon would be on good behavior with his innocent smile one moment, and then give a creepy smile the next. In another scene, he would be sitting across from a suspect and give an eerie smile, which increased the unsettling feeling.

Lee Joon showed off a completely different image than that of his MBLAQ image, which is honest and delightful. He was highly praised for this complete transformation in this difficult role.

He commented, "The role of a psychopath is difficult, but I carefully studied the script and practiced a lot. I think that's one of the reasons I'm getting such good responses. Thank you for looking highly upon me even though I'm very lacking."

He continued, "I am the singer Lee Joon and also the actor Lee Joon, but when I'm acting, I hope I'm not seen as the actor Lee Joon, but rather, as an actual character in the story. That's how I want to act. I'll try hard to present you with acting that I can be remembered by."

Han Sunhwa and Lee Joon acted well in their given roles and didn't disturb the flow of the storyline. They were successful in showcasing never before seen images with their acting. We look forward to seeing their future works, to see how they transform and what kinds of roles they will take next.
