Jon Stewart’s Daily Show Casts SNL’s Michael Che as New Correspondent; First Hire Since Steven Colbert Replaced David Letterman; Get a Preview [VIDEO]

'The Daily Show' nabbed "Saturday Night Live's" Michael Che as its newest correspondent. Michael Che joins the news team on  "The Daily Show with Jon Stewart" after years of doing stand-up and writing for "Saturday Night Live."

Variety is reporting that writer Michael Che joined The Daily Show. Che is the first correspondent that The Daily Show With Jon Stewart has hired since word came down that Stephen Colbert would be taking off his bow-tie and right wing persona on The Colbert Report, "The Daily Show"'s sister, to step between the gaps and replace David Letterman on "Late Show." In March Jordan Klepper was added to The Daily Show cast.John Oliver's new show on HBO premiered last night.

Michael Che was named one of the 10 comics to watch in 2013 by Variety magazine. In 2014, Che was the first standup comedian to hit the stage at "Late Night with Seth Meyers" on NBC. That other late-night war. Michael just finished taping his first stand-up special for Comedy Central. It is set to be broadcast on June 6 during Comedy Central' new season of "The Half Hour" stand-up series.
