3 Main Companies Resume Normal Broadcasting With Subtitles Expressing Mourning

KBS, MBC, and SBS have been relatively quiet following the Sewol ferry accident on the 16th. They cautiously showed movement towards normalizing, but there's still a heavy atmosphere of mourning. Although they did decide to normalize broadcasts, the shows are remaining calm, at the same time expressing their grief with subtitles and airing certain specials.

KBS resumed normal broadcast on the 28th with entertainment program "Hello Counselor." Before the show aired, KBS released a screen expressing their mourning for the Sewol tragedy. They wrote, "We express our condolences and comfort to all the Sewol accident victims and their families."

SBS also resumed broadcast of "Healing Camp", but instead of airing a new episode, they showed a special for writer Lee Ji Sun, which previously aired in September. SBS revealed that in order to offer a message of hope in this time of mourning, they decided to re-air a show instead of resuming normal broadcast.

There are also press conferences resuming, those that had been cancelled after the 16th.

KBS2 held a press conference for "Big Man" on the 28th, and expressed their condolences before the small event. The actors and staff all wore black, and the photo shoot portion was omitted. SBS also held small press conferences for "Doctor Stranger" and "You're All Surrounded" on a much smaller scale. The two dramas were scheduled for press conferences last week, but they postponed activities because they were in mourning.

One SBS rep stated, "Instead of holding press conferences like they are main events, we will hold simple meetings with the press."
