U.S. Billboard Reveals Their 'K-Pop Girl Group Top 10' List

The names of several well known K-Pop girl groups have been appearing on the U.S. Billboard website.

On April 30, Billboard revealed a list of the top 10 K-Pop girl groups that everyone should know about through their K-Pop column, 'K-Town.'

The article explained the origins of K-Pop girl groups and how the phenomenon first began in the 1990s and still maintains its popularity today.

S.E.S was ranked number 1 on the list as they were one of the first girl groups amongst the many male artists at the time.

Girls' Generation, currently one of Korea's top girl groups, came in second place.

After School and 2NE1 were also seen on the list along with SISTAR, Brown Eyed Girls, Jewelry and more.

Billboard also recently did an article on the "Most-Viewed K-Pop Videos In America V.S. Internationally."

The article credits YouTube as well as the addictive K-Pop videos for the expansion of South Korean culture and idol groups.

Billboard will continue to release the list of top-viewed K-pop videos that have been released that month in American and internationally.

The popular music website also assured K-Pop fans that K-Town's weekly chart article, which includes chart stats for K-Pop acts on the K-Pop Hot 100, YouTube chart and beyond, will continuously be updated.

Articles like these are a window into showing how quickly Hallyu is expanding outside of Asia.

Some articles have even used the subject of K-Pop to bring awareness to the certain events that have been going on in South Korea as well.

Billboard published an article on how South Korea's entertainment industry has come to a complete hold as the entire nation has been grieving the loss of the passengers on the Sewol ferry.

The article also helped to spread the ongoing Yellow Ribbon Campaign, which has been showing unconditional support to families that have been affected by the tragedy.
