Eminem `Headlights’ Music Video Is a Heartfelt Mother’s Day Card From a Rap God, It Made Katy Perry [VIDEO]

Eminem's new "Headlights" music video was a Mother's Day surprise. Directed by filmmaker Spike Lee, Rap god Eminem's new music video plowed through the emotions and was so effective it made Katy Perry cry.

The heartbreak comes when Eminem apologizes to his mother in the music video "Headlights." What could be a better gift for Mother's Day?

Eminem celebrated Mother's Day on May 11 with the release of the new Spike Lee-directed music video for "Headlights." Eminem apologizes to his mom for all those bad things he said about her in the past.

Eminem details his troubled childhood. Eminem raps about being raised by a mother who struggled with substance abuse. But Slim Shady says he's sorry for any part he had in their estranged relationship.

News about Eminem's Headlights music video came in early April, when the rapper took to Twitter and Instagram to boast that legendary filmmaker Spike Lee, director of such joints as "Do the Right Thing," "Jungle Fever" and "Malcolm X" would be sitting in the director's chair. Lee shot the "Headlights" music video in Detroit, Eminem's home town.  Eminem released a teaser of the video on YouTube in May 9.

When hip hop star Eminem gets emotional, it's enough to make everyone cry. The new music video for 'Headlights' moved Katy Perry to tears. Or at least a teary faced emoticon. Katy Perry took to Twitter to give Eminem his props. Katy Perry thinks Eminem's 'Headlights' video was a tear-jerker too.

Katy tweeted last night: "The new Eminem video, so many feels tho," along with a crying face.

It is moving. Eminem trashed his mom in his songs in the past, but now acknledges he might have played a part. He used Headlights to as his mea culpa.

Eminem owns it. He raps "I went in headfirst/ Never thinking about who what I said hurt, in what verse/ My mom probably got it the worst/ The brunt of it, but as stubborn as we are/ Did I take it too far? 'Cleaning Out My Closet' and all them other songs/ But regardless I don't hate you 'cause, Ma/ You're still beautiful to me, 'cause you're my mom."

Eminem is the joined by his brother, Nathan, and raps "But, Ma, I forgive you, so does Nathan, yo/ All you did, all you said, you did your best to raise us both."

The new music video "Headlights" featuring fun. frontman Nate Ruess on the opening melody.
