SHINee is a group that pulled me into K-pop back in 2008 with their second single, "Love Like Oxygen."

There was something endearing about the group and their cohesive performance style. "Love Like Oxygen" is the perfect example of that.

The dance-only version of the song gave us an impressive set of choreography taken in a near one shot (with a break in the middle of the song for an obvious wardrobe change).

That alone was both memorable and impressive.

With members Key, Onew and Jonghyun performing one routine in the back of the frame, you also have Taemin and Minho simultaneously performing a dance duet in the front. It might sound a little disorganized, but the result was actually quite well put together.

Of course, SHINee has released many songs since then that showcase some flawless dance routines. But they have tended to be overwhelming and overproduced, like the group's 2010 single "Lucifer."

Back then the group had a stripped down quality that really appealed to me. The video for "Love Like Oxygen" stuck to a simple backdrop with occasional flashing lights. That's all it really needed.

Because of SHINee's minimalist sound back then, and streamlined visuals, fans were able to concentrate on their seamless moves. All of the members were in sync with each other and there was not one person who lagged behind.

We all know how hard groups like SHINee work to give us music videos that make their performances look smooth and easy. But it's rare that a group delivers the kind of commanding performance right out of the gate that SHINee offers up in "Love Like Oxygen."

It's what drew me in seven years ago and its a song that is still worth revisiting time and time again.
