Aishwarya Rai missed her first Cannes appearance after her flight from London to Nice was delayed.

Fans of Bollywood star Aishwarya Rai Bachchan were looking forward to see her walk the red carpet on Friday night. Rai Bachchn was forced to miss the outing because of a delayed flight.

In a statement, Manashi Guha, General Manager L'Oreal Paris India, said "Aishwarya Rai Bachchan is truly a global icon for L'Oreal Paris and while the delay has been unfortunate, we are making sure that Aishwarya attends the event on an alternate date and we are sure she will dazzle as always."

Other Bollywood celebrity to attend 67th Cannes Film Festival are  Sonam Kapoor. Actress Mallika Sherawat walked the red carpet on Day 1 in a blue Emilio Pucci gown.

Because of her role as as L'Oreal Paris ambassador Aishwarya Rai is a regular at Cannes. The 40-year-old mother of one has been attending the ceremony on behalf of the brand for 13 years. Every year former Miss World winner-turned acting star Aishwarya Rai Bachchan makes headlines when she walks the red carpet in the French Riviera at the annual Cannes Film Festival.

Aishwarya Rai will walk the red carpet on an alternate day.

It was also announced that "Aishwarya Rai Bachchan will play the dynamic female lead in my action/thriller 'Jazbaa'," according to a Twitter post by Sanjay Gupta. Aishwarya's official spokesperson confirmed the news.
