The Flintstones movie 2015 remake is going to be a full-length animated picture, that's what Warner Bros. is hoping to give to the viewers on the Silver screen.

The planned Flintstones movie is going to be penned by Chris Henchy (The Campaign, The Other Guys) - who's partners with Ferrell and McKay in Gary Sanchez Productions - is writing the screenplay for the film.

Will Ferrell and his partner in Gary Sanchez Productions Adam McKay will executively produce the project, which is still in its early development.

The Flintstones was comparable to The Simpsons of its time, a sitcom that entertained millions of viewers during its airtime - 1960 to 1966.

The show was set in the Stone Age featuring Fred Flintstone, his wife Wilma with his best friend Barney Rubble and his wife and Wilma's best friend, Betty and their families from the town of Bedrock.

Fred and Barney work in a quarry, both love to eat brontosaurus burgers living in a modern stone-age family life.

The project was supposedly done by Seth MacFarlane however, he was too busy to give attention to the project that he needed to drop out from it. The Flintstones movie 2015 is now being worked on by Warner Bros. and Will Ferrell's production team, it is said to follow the shelved TV version of MacFarlane.

In addition, Universal made the live-action 1994 movie (Viva Rock Vegas), who was produced by Steven Spielberg that starred John Goodman, Elizabeth Perkins, Rick Moranis and Rosie O'Donnell. Elizabeth Taylor played Wilma's mother and Fred Flintstone's mother-in-law. The live-action 1994 movie was famous for having 32 writers on board to pen the script.

Warner Bros. then picked up the rights to Flintstones as part of Time Warner's acquisition of Turner Broadcasting on 1996, which bought Flintstones producers and animation studio Hanna-Barbera in 1991.

The Flintstones movie 2015 reboot will be spearheaded by Andrew Fischel and Cate Adams.
